More power points, in the right places. New, extra and relocated power points, USB outlets, outdoor power and designer finishes, installed neatly by licensed electricians.

Power Points Where You Actually Need Them
Most homes, especially older ones, were wired long before phones, laptops, TVs, routers, air fryers and coffee machines. The result is power boards and extension leads everywhere: messy, easy to trip over, and not designed to run several appliances at once.
The Electric Crew is a family-run team of licensed electricians based in Kew. We add, upgrade and move power points for homes across Melbourne’s inner east and north, so you have power exactly where you use it, and every outlet is tested before we leave.
Power Point Services
Extra power points
New outlets added where you need them, so you can get rid of power boards and extension leads.
Single to double or quad
Existing outlets upgraded to double or quad power points, to run more devices from the same spot.
USB and USB-C outlets
Power points with built-in USB-A and USB-C charging, ideal for bedsides, kitchens and home offices.
Moving power points
Outlets relocated to suit new furniture, a wall-mounted TV, kitchen benches or a renovation.
Outdoor power points
Weatherproof outlets for decks, alfresco areas, gardens, garages and pool equipment.
Testing and repairs
Loose, cracked, scorched or dead power points tested, repaired or replaced safely.
Designer Power Points and Switches
Power points and switches don’t have to be plain white plastic. Modern ranges come in matte black, brushed brass, chrome and stainless steel, with slimline and vertical styles that suit renovated kitchens, period homes and modern interiors alike.
If you’re updating the look of your home, we can replace your power points and light switches with a matching designer range, such as Buster + Punch or Clipsal’s premium ranges. Tom is happy to help you choose a style that suits your space.

Outdoor Power Points
Outdoor power needs to be done properly. We install weatherproof power points rated for outdoor use, protected by safety switches, for:
- Decks, pergolas and alfresco areas
- Outdoor kitchens, barbecues and pizza ovens
- Pool and spa equipment
- Garden lighting, water features and festoons
- Garages, sheds and workshops

Make your power points smart
As official Shelly installers, we can add smart control to power points and appliances, so you can switch things on and off from your phone, set schedules, and see how much power each device is using. It’s handy for heaters, pool pumps, towel rails and anything you forget to switch off.

Power Point FAQs
Do I need an electrician to install a power point?
Yes. In Victoria, all fixed electrical work, including adding, moving or replacing power points, must be done by a licensed electrician.
Can you add power points to an older home?
Usually, yes. We’ll check your switchboard and existing wiring first, to make sure the circuit can handle the extra outlets safely. In some older homes, a few wiring or switchboard upgrades may be needed.
Can a single power point be changed to a double or quad?
In most cases, yes, and it’s one of the quickest ways to get rid of power boards. We’ll make sure the circuit can safely handle what you plan to plug in.
Can you hide the cables when moving a power point?
Yes. We run cables inside the wall cavity wherever the wall construction allows, so the new outlet looks like it’s always been there. Solid brick walls can need a little more work, which we’ll explain first.
Are USB power points worth it?
For bedsides, kitchen benches and home offices, absolutely. They free up sockets and mean no more hunting for chargers. Choose outlets with USB-C as well as USB-A, so they’ll suit newer phones and laptops.
My power point is warm or has scorch marks. Is that dangerous?
Yes. Stop using it and switch it off at the switchboard if you can, then call a licensed electrician. A warm, buzzing or scorched outlet usually means a loose connection or overloaded circuit, which can be a fire risk.
