Location: Harkaway, Melbourne
What we installed: LED strip lighting under the pool-side bench seats, pond lights in the pool trough, copper LED garden lights, festoon lighting over the alfresco dining area
Also: Electrical connection of the pool equipment
The goal: Enough light to enjoy the space at night, without losing the ambience

A Beautiful Space That Needed to Shine at Night
This Harkaway backyard has it all: a raised, glass-sided pool, a sunken lounge around a fire pit, an alfresco dining area and a garden full of feature trees, plants and sculpture.
By day it’s spectacular. Our job was to make it just as special after dark, with lighting that’s practical for entertaining and swimming at night, while keeping the relaxed mood of the space.

A Glow Under the Seats, Not a Glare in Your Eyes
We installed LED strip lighting under the bench seats alongside the pool. It gives the lounge a beautiful, floating glow and plenty of light to move around safely, without any light shining in anyone’s face.
In the pool trough, we installed pond lights to uplight the edges of the pool, and we connected all of the pool equipment, so the pool looks as good at night as it does by day.

Enough Light to Feature the Garden, Not Enough to Spoil It
We planned exactly where each copper LED garden light should go to feature particular trees, plants and sculptural pieces, so each one becomes a focal point at night.
The aim is always balance: enough light to show off the garden’s best features, but not so much that it ruins the ambience. The result is elegant, layered and relaxing.

Festoons Over the Dining Table
Above the alfresco dining area, festoon lighting adds warmth and a festive feel for long summer dinners outside. It’s a simple touch that makes the whole space feel welcoming.
