A Long, Winding Driveway, Lit Through the Bush

The owner of this beautiful 4-acre property asked us to light it up at night, and to make it as convenient as possible to come and go after dark.

Instead of harsh lights along the edge of the driveway, we lit the bordering trees and bush with solid copper LED spike lights. The trees glow from below, the driveway is softly lit, and arriving home at night feels like driving through a lit garden.

Lights That Switch On When the Gate Opens

All the driveway lights are automated. When the entrance gate opens at night, the driveway lights switch on automatically for 15 minutes, so the way in is always lit, without leaving the lights on all night.

The owner can also turn the entry lights on or off from his phone before arriving or leaving, so he never pulls into a dark driveway.

Gardens That Come Alive at Sunset

Around the main house, copper spike lights feature the landscaped gardens, from sculptural shrubs and gum trees to a large rock in the garden bed.

The garden lights are scheduled to switch on at sunset. Because sunset changes through the year, the schedule changes with it automatically, so the lights always come on at the right time, with no timers to adjust.

An Entertainment Pavilion You Can Run From the House

The property also has a separate entertainment pavilion. We fully automated it, so the owner can control the pavilion’s lighting and media from the main house, or from his phone.

On this job we used Environexus automation. Today we’d usually use Shelly smart controls, which do all of this, including sunset schedules and gate triggers.

The owner was delighted with the advice, the installation and the range of automation options. The property looks spectacular at night, it’s perfect for entertaining, and everything is simple to control from any smart device.
