A Modern Outdoor Living Space, Built for Year-Round Use
The Garden Company designed and built the pool and outdoor living spaces at this modern Brighton East home, and brought us in to do all of the electrical and lighting.
The brief was a contemporary alfresco pavilion that works in every season: cool on summer nights, warm in winter, set up for cooking and entertaining, and beautifully lit after dark.
Fan, Heaters, TV and Audio
Under the pavilion roof, a stylish Big Ass Fans ceiling fan keeps the air moving in summer, and ceiling-mounted heat panels take the chill off in winter, so the space is comfortable all year.
We installed the outdoor TV and wireless audio, so the family can watch the footy or play music while they cook and eat outside. LED downlights give good, even light over the kitchen bench and dining table.
An Outdoor Kitchen That’s Ready to Cook
The outdoor kitchen has a built-in BBQ, rangehood and bar fridges. We installed and connected the kitchen and BBQ appliances, with outdoor-rated power and circuits sized for everything running at once.
Planning the power for an outdoor kitchen early, with the builder, means every appliance has its own correctly rated circuit and power points end up exactly where they’re needed.
Pool and Garden Lighting, All Controlled From a Phone
Garden and pool lighting make the space both practical and beautiful at night, from the glowing pool to the softly lit pavilion and garden beyond.
All of the outdoor lighting, appliances and audio-visual systems are connected with wireless automation, so the owners have full control from their phone, whether they’re out by the pool or away from home.
Today we’d usually do this with Shelly smart controls, which can also run the lighting on schedules and link to the rest of the home.
