Fast, reliable Wi-Fi in every room, including upstairs, the home office and the backyard. We design and install UniFi networks that just work, with your cameras, doorbell and Wi-Fi all in one app.

Poor Wi-Fi is one of the most frustrating problems in a modern home. Video calls freeze, the TV buffers, cameras and doorbells drop offline, and there’s always one room where nothing works.

Most of the time, the problem isn’t your internet plan. It’s how the network inside your home has been set up. The Electric Crew is a family-run team of licensed electricians based in Kew. We design and install professional UniFi Wi-Fi and home networks for homes across Melbourne’s inner east and north, and we fix the cause rather than adding another box.

★★★★★

Tom, Rodney and Joe were great. I set up a UniFi wifi home network, mounted a TV, and made my driveway gate and garage door controllable via my phone. Tom was able to work out what I needed (including hardware requirements), and also made some additional suggestions which I was happy to go with.

Fix Slow or Unreliable Wi-Fi for Good

If any of these sound familiar, we can help:

  • Wi-Fi drops out or slows down in certain rooms
  • Weak coverage upstairs, in the extension or out in the backyard
  • Video calls freeze in the home office
  • Smart TVs, cameras or doorbells keep disconnecting
  • A mesh system that never quite delivered what it promised
  • Everything slows down when the whole family is online

We look at your internet connection, where your Wi-Fi comes from, how your home is built and what’s connected to it, then design a network that fixes the cause.

What We Install

Ceiling-mounted access points

Discreet UniFi access points in the ceiling, placed so every room gets strong, consistent Wi-Fi.

Cat6 data cabling

Wired connections to access points, TVs, home offices and cameras, for the fastest and most reliable connection.

Network cabinets

A neat, central cabinet for your modem, network switch, patch panel and camera recorder, so everything is tidy and easy to manage.

Outdoor Wi-Fi

Coverage for the garden, pool area, studio or granny flat, with weatherproof access points.

Parental controls and guest Wi-Fi

Pause the kids’ internet at dinnertime, set bedtime schedules, and give visitors their own secure network.

A network for your whole home

Room for security cameras, video doorbells, TVs and smart home devices, all on one reliable, secure network.

Why We Install UniFi Instead of Mesh

Consumer mesh systems pass the internet from one unit to the next wirelessly, and each hop loses speed. Thick walls, double brick and upstairs floors make it worse.

We install UniFi, a professional-grade system where access points are wired back to a central switch with Cat6 cable. Every room gets full-speed Wi-Fi, and devices move between access points smoothly as you walk around the house.

It’s also the same platform as our security cameras and video doorbells, so your whole home is managed from one app.

Wi-Fi for Homes and Small Businesses

We regularly work in double-storey homes, renovations and extensions, period homes with thick brick walls, and larger properties with studios, pools or granny flats, where standard Wi-Fi rarely reaches.

Renovating or building? Talk to us before the plaster goes up. Running Cat6 cabling during a renovation is quick and far less disruptive, and sets your home up for years.

Small business? We also set up reliable Wi-Fi and networks for offices, clinics, studios and shops, with separate secure networks for staff and customers.

Wi-Fi & Home Network FAQs

Why is my Wi-Fi bad in some rooms?

Usually because the signal comes from a single modem near the front door and has to pass through walls, floors and furniture. Brick walls, upstairs floors and long homes make it worse. The fix is to add access points closer to where you use Wi-Fi, ideally wired back with Cat6 cable.

Is UniFi better than a mesh Wi-Fi system?

For most homes, yes. Mesh units pass the signal wirelessly from one to the next, which cuts speed. UniFi access points are wired back to a central switch, so every room gets full speed, and it’s the same system as your cameras and doorbell.

Do I need Ethernet cabling for good Wi-Fi?

It makes a big difference. Wiring access points with Cat6 cable gives faster, more stable Wi-Fi than wireless-only systems. It’s also the best connection for TVs, home offices and security cameras.

Can you run cabling in an older or double-brick home?

Yes. We regularly run cabling through ceilings, under floors and through walls in older Melbourne homes, keeping it hidden and tidy.

Do I need to change my internet provider or NBN plan?

Usually not. Most Wi-Fi problems are caused by the network inside the home, not the internet plan. We work with your existing NBN connection and tell you honestly if your plan is holding you back.

Can I control the kids’ internet access?

Yes. UniFi lets you pause devices, set schedules and create a separate network for the kids, all from an app on your phone.
