Bright Enough for Hairdressing, Still Full of Character
Biba Academy of Hairdressing in Fitzroy is an award-winning hair salon and training school, set in a characterful industrial building with exposed brick, steel beams and timber.
Parts of the space were very dark, which is a real problem when you’re cutting and colouring hair. Biba needed much more light, but without losing the industrial feel that makes the salon special.
LED Upgrade With an Industrial Look
We chose lighting to suit the building: exposed bulbs and festoon lighting for warmth and character, and LED and fluorescent battens over the work areas, so stylists have bright, even light at every chair.
The result is a salon that’s properly lit for the work, cheaper to run, and still looks like Biba.
Backlit Window Signage That Stands Out
We suggested lighting the salon’s window posters and logo signage from behind with LED light panels. Biba loved the idea.
The posters and signage are now far more vibrant and visible from the street, day and night, which makes the shopfront work much harder as advertising.
As a training school, Biba needed its classrooms to work well for teaching. We fitted the training rooms with wireless audio-visual, so trainers can send content from their phones, tablets and laptops straight onto large screens, with no cables to plug in.See our TV and audio-visual installation service
